Sustainable Community Coexistence

Rooted in the Community

The Nature-Rich City of Hyuga, Miyazaki

Since our founding in 1959, we have been dedicated solely to the lumber industry, supported by the abundant nature and warm community of Hyuga City, as well as strong partnerships with our valued collaborators.

Reimagining Precious Wood in a New Form

There was a time when precious wood was the star of the timber industry, thriving during the golden age of traditional Japanese architecture. However, as times changed and housing styles evolved, tatami rooms became less common, leading to a decline in the use of precious wood.
We are transforming this heritage of fine wood into new forms, giving it a second life as tableware, interior accessories, and furniture—and sharing its beauty with the world.

What we value most is
thespirit of co-creation.

The collaboration between foresters and designers,
and between designers and artisans, gives rise to new connections, sparking fresh projects.
And through this process, we connect with our customers.

We aspire for Hyakunen Mokuzai to become a bridge between forests and cities,
sharing the beauty of Japan’s satoyama and the essence of Japanese craftsmanship
—stories that have long remained untold.
We want to spread this message far and wide.
